Post subject: Beeps On Vonage While Talking
About the same time that my daily calls were no longer getting through for my Tivo using
Vonage
beeps started to occur on the line when having a conversation. I will not hear them on my end of the line but the person I'm talking with hears this beep every minute or so. Then every now and then after say 20 minutes or longer on the phone the line will have this redail of numbers start like one party has hit redail. Neither have and the person I'm talking with and myself here the redailing effect.
I ahve contacted
Vonage
they moved my from line 1 on the
Vonage
device to line 2 and said that would stop it but did not. Now they are saying it must be my ISP.
Funny how the beeps started at the day time the daily calls no longer get completed for my Tivo.
If you have or are having this type of issue please reply to let me knkw

Sorry to hear you are having the trouble. I had the beeping also. At the time of the beep problem I had the Cisco ATA and I ended up switching to the Motorola ATA.
Vonage
(Rob B. Tier 2 Tech) said that certain phones send out a frequency which the ATA thinks is someone pushing a button and then the ATA sends out the DTMF tone (the beep). I have noticed that it has drastically gone down since I got the Motorola ATA. It still happens but only every once in a while. FYI I am using the VTECH 5.8GHZ wireless handset system. Hope this helps.
Brian.

Thanks Brain for letting me know I was not the only one having this issue. Tech told us that we had phones that was to high in GHz, he recommended that we get something around 2 top 3 so we did we got the Olympia 2.4 GHZ Digital Spread Spectrum and that did not help us. Maybe I should try a third brand. LOL
Anyways thanks for your response.

I have experienced this problem, but only when talking to the same person. I am pretty sure the problem is not my phones, since I can not hear the tones when calling other people. I read somewhere (I think it was here) that some female voices trigger the tones. That might be the case with my friend, or it might be her phone.

Many historical postings on this topic. Cisco ATA has a known history for emitting random DTMF 'beeps' periodically during a phone conversation. Probably one of the reasons
Vonage
switching to Motorola.
BTW ... my current ATA has been 'upgraded' to V3.1 software which purports to have 'fixed' this issue.
