We called Vonage canada yesterday to get the utstarcom phone for our existing account. After a lot of wasted time we were told it is only for NEW customers and we would need to subscribe to a new line to get it. we argued extensively but got nowhere. If you have other info please provide. Thanks,

From what I understand, that is the Vonage policy - the WiFi phone is only available from them for new accounts. I do not think that is unique to Canada, that is their overall approach.
For an existing account, you could subscribe to a Vonage Soft Phone account, then use Simultaneous Ringing to have it ring when your main Vonage number is dialed or, if you want mostly incoming calls, you could subscribe to one of the free/semi-free (like IPkall + FWD) Voip services and use an unlocked WiFi phone with those to get incoming calls - again, linking it to your Vonage account using SIM ring, but this time to your "free" US PSTN number. |
