Frankly, I'd turn that off. Windows doesn't do anything with QoS from what I've been able to gather. |
ok, i'll turn it off and see what happens, personally i'm beginning to think it's a Vonage problem not a customer config problem. |
I'd beg to differ on this... The little PAP2, even running 2 simultaneous phone calls at full-throttle shouldn't be able to saturate a decent broadband connection.
When was the last time you reset your WRT54G? Now would be a good time to give it a power cycle. How old is the hub? If it's more than a few years old, replace it. They DO go bad from improper grounding and static electricity after awhile. Unless you're packet sniffing with Ethereal, I'd suggest replacing it with a switch for better performance.
FWIW, the QoS you see inside Windows has no real use unless you're working on a corporate LAN where they're using the server to balance the LAN traffic at the workstation level, but I've never seen this done in practice. |

Ok... my system is up and running just as it used to be... meaning my speeds are back to normal. All I did was to disable port range forwarding on all but Phone 4 (ports 10000-20000 UDP IPADDRESS Enabled All seems to be well.
Yes, I have a Netgear HUB... I think there have been so many router threads people have router on the brain.
Many thanks for all the help and suggestions. I'll still try moving the PAP2 to a direct connection to the WRT54G sometime in the future. Thanks, El Guapo |
