I sent in my LOA on 3/10. Today I received an e-mail from Vonage:
Dear Janet
It appears your current carrier is reselling your number to another carrier. Please verify this with your carrier and please reply if you would like to continue with your number transfert:
In order to resolve the above issue(s), we suggest that you:
1. CALL your phone carrier and request the above issue to be removed from your line 2. CONFIRM with your phone carrier that your account has been updated to reflect the changes 3. REPLY to this email with the confirmation number.
Please reply to this email within 10 days or your number transfer request will be cancelled, and your temporary Vonage number will become your permanent number. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter so that we may process your request in the quickest manner possible.
Sincerely, Atul Customer Care
I called AT&T today and they said they have no idea why Vonage would say this, they do not re-sell phone #'s. According to AT&T I am a current customer with no orders from Vonage that I want to port my number. AT&T seemed to think that Vonage was telling me this because my # is not able to be ported to their service. I did have a distinctive ring # that I went ahead and cancelled the same day I submitted the LOA (3/10) and that was taken out of service on 3/16. Could that have caused this confusion?
Any thoughts on what I should do next???

I also have a problem with Vonage transferring a number, they tell me that they can't because I have Contractual Obligations with Bell South and that my number was blocked. When I contacted BS the told me that wasn't so and they could not block numbers because it is against FCC regulations, I went back to the Vonage site and entered my number with another area code and it said I was in an area that they could transfer my number, so I then entered numbers out of my telephone book using all the exchanges available entered them on the Vonage web page and got the same answer, not available to transfer. Any one know why they would not be able to transfer area code 828 in our town? I did not try numbers in neighboring towns as I don't care about them, just the numbers in the town I live.... |
