Post subject: using Nortel Networks VPN and Vonage, VPN drops instantly
I just installed my Voange yesterday and discovered that I cannot connect to my VPN through as long as my Motorola
Vonage
Adapter is between the Cable modem and the computer. I must disconnect my
Vonage
and directly connect the Cable Modem to the computer while on company VPN, hence no phone while working from home. Can anyone help?

I just installed my
Vonage
Motorola Adapter today and I ran into the same problem. So far I have not been able to find a solution other than move the adapter to a point after my Linsys router. Unfortunately, that means that the voice traffic will not be given priority. I'll keep searching for a solution.

Try posting your questions in the "Digital Voice" section of the forum. It will receive much greater attention there. The "Report a bug" section where we're at now is for problems with the web-site/forum.

I just hung up with
Vonage
tech support (November 2004):
* The Motorola converter DOES NOT support VPN (separate router must be purchased for it to work)
* The LinkSys converter DOES support VPN
Therefore I proposed that they send me a LinkSys converter, and they agreed. They will mail it to me along with a postage-paid return envelope to return the Motorola unit.
If I don't return it within two weeks, they charge $99.99 (that's fair enough).
The
Vonage
tech support number is elsewhere on this site. The call was quick, friendly and professional (despite the 25 minute wait).
Good luck.
