Post subject: Thinking of switching to Vonage?
I tried
Vonage
for eight months and am now cancelling my service. Here are the things I wish I knew before signing up:
- audio quality is not as good as regular phone (almost everyone I called when I switched to
Vonage
noticed the difference)
- while most of the time audio quality is adequate, on occasion there was echoing that made conversation difficult
- all your cordless (2.4 GHz) are useless because they interfere with the 2.4 GHz router from
Vonage
- certain phone numbers (e.g., some toll free numbers) simply cannot be reached using
Vonage
- 911 service unavailable if power out
- if you live in a condo, your buzzer may not work (mine did not, after many attempts with building manager)
- there's a fee for cancelling service (if less than one year of service)
- cancelling service is deliberately difficullt to do (try it!)
