I realize that I will need to take a voltage converter to the UK to step the voltage down from 240v to 110V, but what about the phone jack connector from their phones to my US router. I understand that the size of the jack/connectors in the UK and larger than the US. So in order for it to work do you need a US phone. What about the Ethernet connect from the UK modem to the US router, is this physically the same size? Any help anyone? |

The routers in UK actually have US style phone sockets, so we use simple adapters to use UK phones. The adapters are available in any computer shop.
Ethernet adapters are a worldwide standard. |

The power rating of your voltage converter may depend on which box you are using. I've got an RT31P2 and it's rated at 12V DC 1A i.e. 12 watts. If your box is different, have a look at the label underneath. It may tell you what you need to know.
Another though for you would be to buy a UK power adaptor with 12V DC output (and the right type of plug). I'm sure you could get these at Dixon's which has branches throughout the country, or any other electronics retailer. |

Most adaptors now can change a range of voltages. My iPod was purchased in USA and has a USA plug and all I need is a shaver socket and plug it in that and it works fine. Check the label on your apaptor plug |

You might be lucky. Most of my "carry anywhere" items have multiple voltage ratings (Camera charger, shaver, computers, iPod, cellphone) but unfortunately not the power supply that came with my Vonage box which is an RT31P2. That one is rated for 230V only. |
