OK So i've read here that some people have set up home wiring for it to work for a little while they quit. All with solutions. I have no hanging wire out of my house and i definately had home wiring working for a few weeks and then it just quit. If there was one thing that occured on around the time of it quitting that was putting a little split jack in the phone jack so i could have hte phoen line and a fax in. Now when i plug in the adapter to the wall, and a phone into any jack i get nothing at all. What causes this? It has been a while since i have put effort into trying to figure out the problem so i couldnt tell you what firmware i had and whether or not it was updated. Al l i know is it used to work and now it does not. any suggestions? |

Which adapter are you using? Does anything noticeable happen when you plug the adapter into the wall, such as the phone light beginning to flash? Have you checked the cord that you're using to plug the adapter into the wall?
If everything appears to be normal, get a Y-splitter and plug it into the adapter. Then plug a phone into one of the ports on the splitter. You should get a dial tone. Now run another cord from the other splitter port and plug it into the wall. Do you still get a dial tone on your test phone? |

Thanks for your reply Steve. I'm sorry i should have provided the adapter information. I have a: RTP 300 When i plug it into the wall there is no noticeable difference. The phone light on the adapter flashes every 2-3 seconds but it does that when its not plugged into the wall too. I did what you suggested and plugged a y splitter into the adapter and connected the phone to one port and the other port to the wall. The dialtone is still received on the phone plugged into the adapter but still get nothing on the phone lines plugged into the wall. just pure dead silence. Thanks again for your time. Clint |

OK, the flashing that you see means that you have voicemail. Once you clear the voicemail it should be solid except when you're using the phone. When your phone is connected and off hook, it should also flash, but at a different rate.
Since you still get dial tone on the test phone when you're plugged into the wall jack, it would appear that you have an open wire between that jack and the others. Check the cord that you use to plug into the jack. If possible, try plugging into another wall jack and see what happens.
How many jacks do you have and how are they wired? If there is a central point where wires from the different jacks come together, check there and see if the connection between the wires has come undone. |

Steve,
Thanks bunch for your help. I meant to write this reply earlier but I was having trouble accessing the forum (extremely slow)
Anyway, i took your advice and tried another jack and it worked so i tested all the wiring on my control panel in the basement and was getting juice on all of them which led me to believe there was something wrong with the jack itself. Turns out the wires in the jack weren't in properly, they appeared to be, but werent. I re-wired the jack and whala! So i'm a happy camper now, my house is all wired again!
Thanks again for your help! It is truly appreciated! |

I am having the same problem, all of a sudden the other wall jacks don't work After 6 months of working fine! I have tried: 1. Getting a new phone cord - no difference 2. Pluggin into TWO other (different) jacks - no difference 3. rebooting the cable modem and router - no difference 4. Flashing light on PHONE 1 port - no voice mail! 5. If I plug a phone DIRECTLY into the router - IT WORKS! 6. But none of the other jacks work - so hardwiring isn't work 7. Double checked the NIU to make sure the RJ11 was unplugged HELP! |

Did you try pluging the router into different jacks or just the phone line? |
