Post subject: Vonage Caller ID not working consistently
So I've had
vonage
for about 3 months now. When I get a call from a number it shows up. However sometimes that SAME number that showed up once shows as out of area. This is getting old. It's the same number that showed working fine once then just randomly stops. What's the point of callerID if it works 50% of the time? Is there a tweak or something I'm missing?

I had the exact same problem, in fact there are several threads on this problem you could look back on too. In my case I had what I think were several issues, all of which contributed to the problem.
First, check your dashboard, if the caller ID info is making it to the adapter it will show up on your dashboard. In this case it may be your home wiring and that will need to be checked from top to bottom.
Second, if the CID is not on your dashboard you may need to call tech support. I use a PAP2 and after sometime explaining my problem the tech told me they "pushed" something to my adapter and it should cure the problem. Between the wiring and this push my CID increased but still wasn't perfect. Believe it or not I happened to put my adapter on a different port on my Netgear wireless adapter and now have 100% CID all the time. I'm really not sure which one of these actually fixed my problem but it was the only issue I've had with
Vonage
and it is now fixed.
Don't give up, it appears different people have had different issues with CID in the past and firmware was found to be a big problem at one time. There seems to be fewer complaints about it now so hopefully it is something simple. I would suggest publishing your equipment as there are plenty of experts lurking on this site with a lot more knowledge then I have and would be able to offer more help but they need to know the technical stuff and its configuration.
Good luck!

The firmware issues have largely been resolved. If you're having trouble with CallerID, try connecting a phone DIRECTLY to the
Vonage
adapter (not using your household wiring) and see if you still have problems with it. If the problems persist, then it's definitely a
Vonage
problem and you need to get after
Vonage
's tech support. If it works, then you've got issues with your household wiring. Lately household wiring seems to be the main issue when it comes to functional CallerID

I haven't set up my home wireing yet. I have been lazy on it. It's been hooked into the phone adapter directly.

In that case, which
Vonage
adapter are you using and which firmware version is it running? (You can acceess the version # info by going to
http://192.168.15.1
from a computer connected to the adapter, at least if it's any adapter other than a PAP2). If you have a PAP2, from your telephone, dial **** then 150 #.

1.00.
60
is the current version. If you're truly running 1.00.00, call up
Vonage
and have them send you the latest firmware. There were many issues with the initial versions of the RTP300 firmware, including CallerID issues.
