I was so excited about receiving my router - I haven't had a phone for a week! Today since receiving my RT31P2 7 hours ago I've been troubleshooting to make it work. I followed the direcitons got everything correctly hooked up but I can't get a dial tone. I did the trouble shooting suggetions from the site over and over. Finally, about an hour ago I drove up the road to call Vonage customer service. I was on hold with customer service for 15 minutes. A hindu or pakistani gentleman finally answered and wanted my router model number and phone number. Of course I left the house not knowing I needed either. So he couldn't help me.
Why can't tech support be web based? I don't have another phone line and driivng to a neighbors house to wait on hold for 15 minutes is not fun.
Now after the fact I've gone to product reviews and it's not looking so good. I really need for this phone to work as I have stuck it on all of the resumes that I sent out last week. Maybe that wasn't smart but it just never crossed my mind that the service would not work. |

I see you've re-posted in a new thread. That's good. See my reply at the bottom of the other thread, then reply here. |

It must be the phone 1 port. |

Believe me I've checked... everything is plugged in their appropriate ports. It's clearly written phone 1 and phone 2 - I'm not a techie but I'm not a total idiot. I did another reboot before replying to this post. Still no dial tone. No lights on router to indicate phone service is working.
Based on the product reviews and critiques I've read since beginning my troubleshooting, Vonage has some issues. Apparently I'm not the only one that has had this same problem. So to quiz me on whether or not things are hooked up correctly is not helping.
Thanks for responding but it looks like I will shipping my router back Monday. Gee... from the reviews it looks like I might have a fight on my hands. I see a lot of quibble about a disconnect fee. DANG! If I have trouble I will contact the Federal Trade Commission.
I'm on the waiting list for Comcast Voip. Guess I'll have to turn my cell phone back on until Comcast comes to this area. |

Well, good luck. Sorry you are going to give up without trying, Since you decided not to provide us the information in the sticky, we can't really help without some information. Good luck with Comcast. |
