Ya' know I'm an old 40 something chick that doesn't know a lot about networking and routers but I can tell when someone is talking to me in a condescending manor. Condescending? How so? The sticky post was put there because it saves everyone time by listing the sort of information that is usually needed to help people. Folks here try to help by troubleshooting by remote control- not an easy task in the best circumstances. The more information we can get with the fewest exchanges, the more likely it is that we can help.

No one expects you to be a technical expert- and neither are most of us. That's why someone took the trouble to list the sort of things a helper needs to know.

I should be able to have satisfactory customer support regardless of my level of technical knowledge. The Vonage commercials give no impression what so ever that one has to have some level of expertise in order to use their service.

Sure you should, but since you aren't getting it, we try to help. (You're not under the impression that we're Vonage employees are you?)

Unfortunately, there is not. They do have hardware that aren't also modems, but they aren't any smaller. I have seen smaller devices out there, but none that can be used with Vonage.

I'm not sure if it was in this thread or another, but someone else recommended this before.... If you do this, it is wise to buy a second power adapter and extra network cables for this router. This way all you have to do is to unplug things from the router, not from the wall or anywhere else.

In addition to this, the other alternative(s) would be to use a softphone. There is an extra cost to this, but it is works through your PC instead of needing the router. This is available today from Vonage.... 500 minutes for $9.99 a month. You can order this online from your account by selection the Add-ons option.

You could also use a Wi-fi phone. This would work on an open wireless network. I'm not sure that Vonage has released this yet, but it is supposed to be out some time this year.
