Hello All, I am new to this forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My setup: RCA Cable Modem > D-Link DGL-4300 > Linksys RTP-300 This setup is outstanding with Vonage service. The DGL-4300's GameFuel priority engine is the best QoS of any router in its price range. I've tried them all. Being new to networking, how do I configure the RTP-300 so that computers connected to the LAN ports on this device are visible in the network with those connected to the DGL-4300, both wired and wireless. I know this is probably an easy fix. Thanks |

You can connect the RTP300 in bridge mode, but be aware that some knowledgeable people don't like the idea. Read more here.
Basically, disable DHCP and DNS in the RTP300. Run an ethernet cord from a DGL LAN port to a LAN (not WAN!) port on the RTP. Run another cord from a second LAN port on the RTP to the WAN port on the RTP (!). That leaves you two LAN ports on the RTP. Power up in the correct order and you should be up and running. |

John, I haven't tried disabling NAT and DHCP. I'll give that a shot.
Steve, What are the disadvantages of bridge mode?
Thanks, Michael |

Michael, take a look at the link that I provided. Nate Hoy, one of the real networking experts in here, says he has noted some odd behavior suggesting that the bridge mode stresses the equipment. Read what he says and judge for yourself; others are using it with apparent success. |

Thanks Steve, I read Nate's article. I hadn't event though of just inserting a switch on one of the free LAN ports on the wireless router. I'd probably agree that it's best to let the Vonage router simply handle Vonage traffic. A switch is a very cheap solution. Thanks for the help! |

Slightly off topic perhaps; but the D-link DGL-4300, the Trendnet TEW-611BRP (discussed in another thread) and the Zyxel X-550 all use the same StreamEngine QoS. |
