Post subject: Did I dream this? (Anonymous call reject)
I was sure that I remembered reading in this forum that, although not an advertised feature, anonymous call rejection was available from
Vonage
if one called and requested it. Since I've been having a rather difficult time with one caller who keeps doing this, I called
Vonage
yesterday to ask about it. The rep I spoke to said that it is not available. I told him that I'd read that it wasn't available to those who received the first adapters from
Vonage
, but could be done for the later ones. He checked with a supervisor, and came back and said that this wasn't the case, and that the feature was not available to anyone.
I'm pretty sure I don't have ALLsheimers yet, but maybe I do have HALFsheimers?

Well, whatever it is you may have,
Vonage
definitely does not have ACR.

There is a looooooong thread about this in the wish list forum.
They don't have it, despite begging, pleading, and reminders that ALL of their competitors offer it.

Here's the deal (at least the best that I know)...most of the adapters support it...the trick is getting one of the techs to turn it on for you. Now, if they do this, what will happen is that the caller sending Private Caller or without CallerID will get sent straight to your voicemail.

Uh, that statement is not entirely accurate.

Except that it's horribly inconsistent. I have to "turn it on" every day at least, because it's as if it kicks out or something. I also don't think it blocks every unidentifiable caller, as my Privacy Manager from SBC did. It only blocks calls that come through as truly "private," which aren't that numerous nowadays. Calls that are listed as "out of area" or "unknown" seem to still get through, at least, that's been my experience with it.

I can confirm that the later of these two statements is correct.

If
Vonage
endabled this, they'd have to fix the Name on outbound callerID. Otherwise,
Vonage
customers wouldn't be able to call other
Vonage
customers! My 'name' shows up as 'Out of Area' of 'Unavailable' most places I call. My number does show up, though...

ACR, at least from what I've seen, works only when the number isn't available.
