I have heard of people having issue with mixing Vonage and POTS with this phone.

One solution that I know has worked in the past is to switch the POTS to L2 and Vonage to L1/L2.

Try this and let us know if it helps.

Make sure that the phone cords that you are using are both 2 contact cords (you will be able to see only 2 metal pins on the connectors).

I am using the TRU-8866 with line one being a Verizon landline and line two being Vonage. I have all my jacks wired as two-line and just have a single 4-conductor cord from the jack to the L1/L2 jack on the Uniden base.

I suspect that the earlier diagnosis is the problem, that the two lines were not being isolated, so the proposed solution should work.

I am just confirming that there is no problem with the Uniden operating with a combination of Telco and Vonage lines.

My next real dumb question is:

I bought this adapter:

http://us.st11.yimg.com/store1.yimg.com/I/trianglecables-site_1888_34508390

No how in the heck do you get it to plug into the back of the phone unit. NO WAY

Looks like I am headed back to radio shack for some additional hardware

You are right, that won't fit into the phone.

So, backing up a step, you never really described your setup (or did I miss it?).

I am guessing you have a telco line coming from an RJ-11 wall jack...right?

As for the Vonage line, do you just have a Vonage adapter that you are trying to connect to the Uniden?

If you could clarify where things stand now, then we can try to provide a solution.

Before you head back to the store...

Your phone has line 1 and line 2 jacks. Do you have a 2-wire RJ11 patch cable (one with only two bits of metal in the RJ11 jack instead of four)?

If so, use that patch cable for your "Line 1" jack on the phone.

All mine has 4 wire.
So I am going to buy 2 wire line.

Do I use 2 wire for both lines or just use the 2 wire on the Vonage line.

wouldn't an alternative be to use the adapter you just bought.

Plug it into the wall jack for the telco line. Then using a 4-wire cord from the L1 on that adapter to the Uniden's L1/L2 should get just the telco line ... the effect of a 2-wire cord. Then connecting the Vonage adapter to the Uniden L2 jack should work.

So, I would suggest you try what I was getting at in my last post.

To do so, just unplug the cord from the wall jack, plug in the adapter you pictured, and plug the cord into the L1.
