Whenever I make a phone call, my internet service stops working, as does my Vonage service. My cable modem's Cable light will blink, and even if I unplug it and replug it back in, (or hit the reset button) the light will continue to blink.

It appears the only way to get back online after making a phone call is to leave the cable modem AND motorola vt1005a unplugged for a few minutes. Then replug everything back in and wait.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

My ISP is Roadrunner. I have a linksys router hooked up past the Vonage router.

Everything works fine until after I finish a call.

I've never had problems with the cable light blinking on my cable modem until I got the Vonage service.

I have the same exact problem. I lose my internet connection a few seconds after I make or receive a call. The ATA is behind my router.

It just started happening out of the blue. My setup was working fine for over a year before this. I too have RoadRunner, though resold through Earthlink and am in New York City.

Have you figured out any way to fix this??

what cable modem is it? do you know (or can you) access its config page? if so I'd be interested in seeing the log entry where the connection drops.
also, what Vonage device do you have?

Does Your ISP require MAC address registration?

Thanks for the quick replies! I really appreciate the help since this problem, as you could imagine, is really giving me some headaches.

My cable modem is a Toshiba PCX2500. I don't know how to, or if I can, access its config page

My ATA is the (old-ish) Cisco ATA 186.

Pretty sure my ISP doesn't require MAC address registration. Things have been working fine using my router for a year.

The only thing I've changed on my system setup recently is getting a new portable phone. Don't know how that could have caused this problem, tho...

I've been experimenting for a few days without a new phone I recently added to my system, a portable Uniden 2.4 GHz model.

It seems that the phone, just by ringing (even if I wasn't using it) may have been screwing up my entire network, even the wired parts, via my D-Link DI-624 Router (802.11b/g) which is about 5 feet away.

Anyone heard of this happening? Doesn't seem logical, but since I've unplugged the phone from power, my Internet connection has been stable.
