Already been on hold for over 2 hours today, I might as well post this while I am waiting. Here is my info:

Comcast Cable modem -> netgear wgt624v3 router -> linksys pap2 phone adapter -> phone (in line 1)

I have restarted everything in the proper order several times. The PAP2 has two solid blue lights, so it is getting an internet connection, but phone 1 is not lit (nor is phone 2 for that matter).
I have already opened up the ports mentioned in other places.

Also, the light on my router for the adapter is amber meaning the connection is only 10mbps instead of 100 (like it is for my pc).

I'm guessing that my device may not have been provisioned by Vonage, but it is impossible to get a hold of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

are you a new customer?
I think the pap2 only supports 10mbps. not that it makes any difference in the world besides cosmetic.

yes, I am a new customer. I signed up a couple of weeks ago, and received notification that my old number was ported successfully about three days ago, and I have been disconnected from my old phone company.

Yes, I bought it retail and registered it with Vonage (entered the MAC ID etc.). They sent me e-mails to confirm everything.

And you're able to access the internet with your computer?

Try temporarily removing the router and plugging the PAP2 directly into your modem. If you can't get a phone light that way, then I'm afraid that you're stuck dealing with customer service.

Yes, I can access the internet without any problems while the pap2 is hooked up. I just tried connecting it directly through the modem and didn't get a dial tone (although the ethernet light never became solid...even after 30 minutes). It looks like I need to go back to being on hold forever Mad

Try connecting the PAP2 directly to the cable modem again, BUT, this time, try unplugging the power to the cable modem for 2 minutes, then try it... I've seen Comcast do some strange things when it doesn't see the MAC address it's expecting.

Okay, here is the solution:

First of all, I called tech support at 6:30 a.m. and got through right away, no hold time whatsoever, and the tech was very friendly and helpful.

The solution ended up being doing a hard reset of the pap2 (not a manual reboot, but restoring the factory defaults).

After this, pap2 reboots again and eventually the phone1 light turned on, and magically, a dial tone with it.
