Hi
Getting very frustrated with Vonage. Up until monday I have been happy with my service.
I have a Linksys RPT300 router that died on monday. I can't call vonage from home because I don't have a phone without this router.
I called from work this morning and talked to and had the call either drop or couldn't hear the Indian tech people 3 times. Gave up on them and called the main number for vonage. Got disconnected the first time.
Then I talked to someone in the "Executive Response Team". His answer was that I needed to purchase a new router, as that this one was not in warrantee anymore (only a 90 day warrantee). That I could purchase a new one from them for $100 or I could purchase one on my own from a retail store.
I asked who I could talk to about getting this waved and a new router from them, and his answer is that too bad, he reports to the "Executive Team" and there is no one over him to talk to. It would cost me $40 to drop Vonage, as I have only been a "customer" for 6 months. So much for the big savings that Vonage has promised me if I have to keep replacing their equipment that they sell me to continue having service with them.
Is this the kind of support that I should expect from Vonage.
Anyone know how I can get a hold of someone who can get this problem they have fixed?
Thanks

I wonder if that adapter was at one time returned to Vonage by someone else as defective...then sent out to a new customer. |

after 6 months the router just died on you?
what happened? does it just not power on? or are you not getting a connection but there is power to the router? |

It powers up, all the lights flash and then acts like its online for maybe 10-20 seconds, then all the lights turn off and it starts the cycle again. I also can not log into it. I can get as far as the log-in screen if I'm lucky before it shuts itself off and starts the cycle again.

I have been using Vonage at home for about 10 months. My initial router was LinkSys RT31P2, which died shortly after installing. The replacement RTP300 has been fine. As a result I signed up to use Vonage for my business, in a new location.
Today I attempted to install the RT31P2 that they sent me. Right out of the box it doesn't work. While everything lights up like it thinks it's working, you can't get an IP from it. Without being able to communicate with the router, I cannot get it configured for my DSL service. Attempting to call tech support is futile, and there's no way I'm going to keep this piece of crap. Given the importance of my business phone, I'm starting to re-think using Vonage at all. |
