Have you called Shaw? There is no way you should be getting ping times that high to a local IP in your city. There must be something wrong. I don't think a heavily loaded node should even give you ping times that high.
Call Shaw and have them send someone out. |

If you're talking about 64.200.240.122, that IP is located in Missiouri (or close too) and is not on the Shaw network. A tech will do nothing. Locally I get good ping times. |

I saw the *.cgy.* subdomain and assumed it was Calgary.
What the hell does an IP in Missouri have to do with testing your Voip connection????? |

Because Vonage routes the calls through New Jersey, and from there...well, somewhere it's hits the POTS, but it's after the call goes over the 'net to New Jersey |

Yes...NJ, no Missouri!
Do >tracert sip.vonage.net
Get's as far as the Vonage NOC in NJ and then you get time outs. The numbers you do get should tell you something. You should not get anything above 250ms. Ideally you want to be below 100ms. |

Outgoing calls are poor since March 17, 2006
I too have noticed a decrease in outgoing calls in the last week. There seems to be a large delay of about 500ms until the other party can hear my voice and vice-versa.
Anyone else notice something happen in the last week? |

Ok, it seems like everyone that I've talked to using Vonage over shaw is starting to experience the same issues.
Outgoing call quality is horrible, incomming is normally fine. This seems strange to me so I went to Test Your Voip and this is what I found...
http://www.testyourvoip.com/details.html?id=6U08NC
My connection to the Voip server (not Vonage btw) is horrible a max of 3.2 BUT!!! my inbound was better than ever at 4+. Even better is the analysis of the traffic, it looks like the cause of the problems is packet discards?!? Could, Can shaw be discarding SIP packets intentionally?
I suggest that everyone go to the link above and post their locations and results.

Now I'm wondering if I should even open the package I get from Vonage or just send it back and wait for the Shaw digital phone to come to Red Deer. |
