HELP!!

We have wildly inconsistent call quality -- sometimes great, sometimes garbled or dropped calls. My wife uses her phone every day, all day for business, and she's ready to fire both me and Vonage.

Please help us! We need expert help to fix this, fast!

Here's our basic information:

1. Your location
Poulsbo, WA (near Seattle)

2. Your ISP name and type (cable, DSL, wireless etc)
Comcast cable

3. Upload and download speeds
dslreports.com speed test result on 2006-03-15 20:59:14 EST:
6026 / 356 kbps

4. Modem make and model
Motorola Surfboard SB5120

5. Type of Vonage adapter used ie RT31P2 or PAP2
Linksys RTP300

6. Setup of Network ie Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC
ISP -> Modem -> Adapter -> Router -> Intranet

7. Issue you are experiencing ie dropped calls, choppy audio etc
Choppy audio reported several times a week, both incoming and outgoing. Dropped calls, 4-5 times a week.

8. DETAILED results from www.testyourvoip.com with a test call to Boston.

No one right now can prove anything.... but Vonage and comcast don't mix. Im sure youve heard of the speculations that comcast is deliberatly degrading Vonage connections. You have limited options, and here they are.

1. Call comcast and tell them CALMLY your difficulties. I've heard of some instances where somehow comcast was able to route the internet connection to a different router somewhere else in the country, and that fixed it. but you must be talking to a technichion to do that.
2. Try and call your local phone company to see if they offer standalone DSL. I have heard that almost all do (with the exception of sprint). Then cancel your comcast and go with that.
3. If your city offers any kind of city wide wifi, try that option. theres a city here in MN that is ENTIRELY wifi and its really cheap. (check it out at www.chaska.net)
4. Last option- cut ur loses and cancel Vonage. Maybe try another Voip, or just go back to landline or a cell phone.

Yeah, we give up. Three long calls to customer service (two of which were dropped so I had to start over). The rep promised many fixes, delivered none.

Conclusion: Vonage (maybe Voip in general) is not reliable for primary business phone service. Back to Sprint, at least for this year. At least we get to keep our phone number!

Anyone want to buy a router? Cool
