I have a business in Denmark that runs a website targeted at US companies, and I wish to create a Call Center in Brazil. At Vonage's website, its stated that Vonage works in the US/Canada, but also outside of it.
We wisht o use Vonage because:
- we want to have a US 0800 phone number, even though our support staff will be located in Brazil
I tried ordering the service, but you can only order if you have a billing address in the US/Canada?!
Is it possible at all to get the service for use here in Brazil using an international creditcard? Could I get the service through a friend in the US, and have him ship me the equipment to Brazil? I found it very odd that the website states it can be used all over the world, but ordering can only be done within US/Canada!
Any help/comments would be appreciated! |

I'm in almost the same situation, but located in Germany. Please answer the tread here and share your comment. |

Vonage has not offered this to non-US / Canadian residents primarily so as not to incurr the wrath from foreign telephone companies leaning on the U.S. Federal Gov't to intervene.
Enter the gray market -- no doubt some enterprising folks will set themselves up as middle man offering to buy a Vonage line for you with some margin for them. Vonage probably won't get too rattled, but gray market is just that gray.
theglobe.com isn't as worried about the foreign intervention and in fact will sell you the necessary MTA and service directly. theglobal.com has focused initially on selling to South American folks who have business in the U.S. -- anyone can order the service. theglobal.com is a competitor to Vonage with much the same features and service packages.
The biggest issue for anyone considering utililzing the service outside the U.S. is your latency to the various servers and gateways |

Well, I'm a U.S. resident but living in Germany for a year or so. I could let them send the equipment to my home address, but then I have to pay for shipping twice when resending it to my German address.
Voiceglo.com will for instance ship to Germany, but I actually wants to have Vonage, especially when I read the last issue of PC World.
Perhaps a better solution is to aquire an ATA over eBay and then sign up without hardware option.
Regards, Martin |

Well, I've decided to buy an ATA : Sipura-2000. Finally found a distributor in Europe for that one (in Finland). Going to order it next week.
Will probably choose Broadvoice's BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) plan for $5,95 / month. Have read many positive reviews of both their services and audio quality.
I'll keep you informed! |
