-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been a happy Vonage customer for just over a year... but now? Tell - anyone, how is skype, anyway? Are there any other good Voip Companies out there, because Vonage is BAD!!!!!
Here's my story:
My Vonage furnished Motorola Router stopped working just after a year of service - and for some reason would no longer negotiate an IP. The answer from technical support was to replace it.
I went out and purchased a Linksys PAP2. Thats when my fun began.
The Mac address is "invalid"..... and I can't seem to get any response besides "We will fix it in 24 hours" OR "Can you replace it" (If this Mac address is invalid, why would another one from the same store be valid?).
After no less that 10 calls (3 of which ended up with a real person) - and several promises that this would be fixed, as well as 3 seperate emails explaining to them that my MAC addess was not in thier inventory, and asking them to please add it , I finally recieved the following response:
Thank you for contacting Customer Care. We apologize for any delay in replying to your mail.
In regards to your issue we understand that you are trying to register the MAC address of the PAP2 device and not able to do so. We again tried to register but getting error message.
We believe this MAC address is not registered in the Vonage inventory. Please change the device with another PAP2 device from where you bought it. After changing the device please furnish us the wan MAC address of the new device so that we will be able to register it.
We appreciate your patience and business with us. We will try our extreme effort to resolve it soon. Please reply us back as earliest as possible.
This is absolutely maddening, and I am without a phone! My little boy cannot talk to his father, my business clients cannot reach me except by cell - this is costing me time, money, and my young child more than a little bit of heartbreak!
Come on Vonage - you are making money hand over fist! ENOUGH! Get it together, and find a new way to validate clients. |

Very frustrating indeed. Sorry you're going through it, but unfortunately it's a pretty common occurrence. See a recent discussion here:
