Just got the device and signed up a day or two ago. I have Comcast cable and set the device up in several different ways, all to no avail, it just will not acquire the IP. Here's the simplest setup that I can imagine, but no luck. It won't even pass the signal through to my router or my pc if I take the Linksys router out of the equation:

Surfboard SB4100 modem->VT1000/1005->Linksys router->PC

If I take the damn VT1000/1005 out of the system, my network acquires the IP right away. The VT1000/1005 is set up for dynamic IP, which is what Comcast uses. The silly VT1000/1005 just keeps flashing twice (acquiring IP). I tried going into the VT1000/1005 setup and it was set up as it should be, so I'm thinking the damn VT1000/1005 is defective.

(I say VT1000/1005 because the box indicates it's a VT1000, but the device itself is labeled as a VT1005)

Anyone see anything I'm missing?

The Vongage system is up and running fine now. Appears that with a Comcast modem one must un-plug and wait a 'good' amount of time for it to clear it's memory before it is plugged back in with the adaptor now connected.

Seems we probably weren't waiting long enough.

with Comcast Surfboard modems, yes you can wait forever, or, you can connect directly to your PC again, then go to http://192.168.100.1 .
Click on Configuration, and Reset all defaults. Click ok on the box that comes up. now here's the tricky part. Click restart cable modem, and you'll see a message that Cable modem is rebooting in 10 seconds. At that point, you'll have 10 seconds to unplug the power to the cable modem. once that's done, Hook your Vonage device up without any thing plugged into power on the Cable Modem or the Vonage device. Once you have all the network cables connected CM->Vonage Device-> PC, plug the power into the Cable modem, and then the Vonage device. The problem is the Comcast Surfboards remember the first MAC address that was connected, and the only way to clear it is to leave it unplugged for like 3-4 hours, or a factory reset.
