Post subject: Help! Can't establish outgoing connection
My setup
Motorola VT1000 into
Linksys BEFW11S4 router into
Toshiba PCX1100 cable modem
Linksys was set up as DHCP, dynamically assign IPs. No port fowarding setup. Everything was working fine.
Two days ago, I could no longer be heard by the other end of a phone call. I could hear them fine. Observing the VT1000 I noticed that whenever I made a call the VT1000 would disconnect (light would blink) after about 20 seconds. I could continue to hear but they could not hear me. After I hang up the VT1000 re-establishes a connection (light is on solid). When I again try to make a call the scenario repeats. I have tried setting static IPs and turning off DHCP. I have set up port forwarding. No joy.
I am using Earthlink over Brighthouse (aka Time Warner of Central Florida)
Tech support suggests hooking up the VT1000 between the router and modem, but this has never worked. THe modem does not sense that there is a device connected to its ethernet jack and the VT1000 never registers.
TIA
