I'm using the 611 and haven't disabled any of the ALGs except for IPSEC (for my company VPN). I have UPNP turned on. Seems to work great.
I've been downloading/uploading 64mb files and making phone calls to friends to test. Can't get my voice to go choppy... Well.. except when Comcast is having issues.
I'm using it with a Motorola VT1005. I have an RTP300 sitting on my desk gathering dust because it isn't as good as the Motorola. |

Thanks for the feedback. UPnP was definitely giving me fits, it is interesting that this is somehow specific to my LAN.
Have you verified that you are receiving your voicemail waiting indicator with the SIP ALG on?
BTW, I also had to turn off the IPSEC SLG to use my work's VPN. |

My current phone system doesn't have a voicemail indicator light. Are you talking about the stutter tone? I could check that, if it helps.
I ended up turning off uPNP, since I wasn't using it anyway. It doesn't seem to have changed anything for me, though.
I also turned off the SIP ALG just in case. If it gives me problems, I'll turn it back on. |

I was referring to the indicator light and I forget if the stutter dialtone and light are activated by the same signal from Vonage.
You won't have any problems by turning the SIP ALG off, but you might have some with it on.
Just out of curiosity, have you tested your outgoing voice quality with UPnP on. The reason I ask, is that the incoming voice was okay, but the outgoing had the problem once or twice a minute. You wouldn't know unless you tested it yourself or someone told you. I'm just trying to understand if it is a general problem with UPnP and Vonage on the router, or limited to my specific setup.
Thanks! |

I made a bunch of phone calls to a lot of people. I even had a friend sit on the phone where I tested QoS to see if my line seemed choppy, while I uploaded/downloaded files. He said it sounded great. |
