I'm trying to find out if the Vonage 800 #'s will hook up to a Comrex answering system, particularly the STAC 6 unit. I'm not a techie so be gentle |

I've used Vonage with quite a few telephone hybrids (including Comrex/Gentner ones) as well as the Comrex Hotline, Matrix, and Vector codecs, no problems that I've encountered. The RTP300 seems to be better with them than the PAP2. Also, the RTP300 provides the right voltage signalling to tell the Stac to disconnect the line without the fast busy tones going on air. The PAP2 box doesn't do this, so you'd have to watch the phone closely & disconnect promptly to avoid this (just get the RTP300, it'll make things sound a lot more professional on-air)
The Comrex Stac 6 *IS* professional broadcast equipment, so you are going to have to make some of your own wires if you plan on using more than just 1 line of telephone service with it.
What sort of application are you running? |

I do not see why it would not work. It looks like the Stac6 is a multi line system with 6 analog (POTS) phone ports. If this is the case then you can connect one of these ports directly to a phone port on your Vonage phone adapter. Then you could add a Toll Free number to your Vonage account. Any calls to that number would ring on your Vonage number that the Toll Free is linked to and ring onto your Stac system.
The main question here is if the Stac has analog ports. I read through the site and the FAQ and it appears that is the case. So, instead of plugging a line from your normal phone company into the Stac you are connecting to the Vonage phone adapter, just line any other phone. |
