Post subject: Two routers or 1router and 1 hub??
I live in an area with no phone landlines or cable. My connection to the internet is via a KA satellite modem.
The standard wiring is good and the system is working well.
KA Modem....D-Link DI 604...Linksys Phone adapter.
My Son is also connected to the same DI 604 and wishes to connect to another
Vonage
phone adapter. will he need another router or can we use a hub?
Hookup suggestions would be appreciated

I don't know if there is an exact answer to that question. There may be no clear advantage one way over the other. Routers tend to be a little more popular, and one advantage most have is a built in firewall.
One more bit of information that is needed. How many IP addresses does your ISP provide? Using a router will show "1" connection no matter how many devices are plugged in. Using a Hub will draw a separate IP addresss for each peripheral connected to the hub. Hence if your ISP like mine has few IP addresses (mine 2), then it will all depend on how many other connections you wish to have.

Wait a minute!!
I just re-read your post. Isn't there another 3 ports on the D-Link. If those are already full, then I'd recommend a switch. If you added another router, you only need it to serve as a switch behind your first router.
Sorry about the confusion. I skipped too quickly through your post, and didn't think my answer through.

Post subject: Done and thanks
Thanks outerfire. It would seem that when I was asking all the Q's my son was talking to the good people at
Vonage
and they got him going with his V-Tech phone adapter. All I had to do on this end was shut everything down and do a restart and volia everything works.
thanks again
jim
