Post subject: get clicking in the phones every 5 seconds
My phone number was transferred over to
Vonage
. So I did the following steps. I disconnected my incoming phone line from the outside of the house. Then I plugged in the phone line coming from the
Vonage
router into an existing free phone jack to distribute the signal. I have two cordless phones with a base station around the house and when I use them I do hear a clicking every 5 seconds. I tried even connecting one portable phone with a station directly to the
Vonage
router line.
It still clicks every 5 seconds. When I use a regular phone then there is no clicking. Do I have to use special portable phones

Do you have a wireless router? If you and your phone is a 2.4Ghz cordless then it is possible that they are interfering as they share the same frequencies.
I have had interference happen both directions... In one case my laptop would get knocked off the WiFi every time the phone would ring. I got rid of that phone and got another one. The new one worked and sounded fine but the callerID display was scrambled when ever the wireless router was on.
I now have 5.8GHz cordless phones and there is no problem.
If the problem is the WiFi to Cordless interference you may be able to reduce it by changing channels on the phone or the router. You will have to read the manuals to figure out how to change channels.

Thank you that did it. I change the channel of one of my phones and it worked no more clicking or puls.
Yes I do have a wireless router.
Many thanks again.
