Is there anything available that compares the features of the different Vonage adapters?

Also, if I want to swap to a different model adapter, how do I do that? Nothing on their site addresses this. Can I just buy one retail, or do I have to order from Vonage? I do realize that a used one will not work.

I'm asking more out of curiosity than anything else.

I don't know if it's all spelled out in any one place, but you can learn a lot just by reading through the forum for awhile. The RTP300 is an adapter/router with 4 LAN ports. The WRTP54G is the same, with wireless added. The RT31P2 is an adapter/router with 3 LAN ports. The PAP2 is an adapter ony- no routing. The VT1000 is an adapter/router with 1 LAN port.

To swap adapters, you get the one you want (at your own expense), and call Vonage to switch from your old one to your new one.

Hmmm. I see the RTP300 isn't listed there. I also read a post in here a few minutes ago saying that Vonage is replacing the poster's RTP300 with an RT31P2. I wonder if this means that Vonage is switching horses?

Yeah, I see that as well, but they're not listing a bunch of them there. They provide all the user guides here, and considering the 31P2 is old and probably going to be discontinued, I tend to think they're just not up to date.

There's still quite a few hardware/firmware issues with the RTP300 that Vonage isn't happy about....not sure what their relationship with Texas Instruments/Cybertan is, but I'm sure it's a bit tense... many months of waiting for firmware to fix problems which should have been caught in beta testing, and firmware versions screwing up more things than they fixed.

As of now, I know of 3 issues with the RTP300:
1) DTMF relay doesn't work/mute properly, making it difficult to work with some IVR systems
2) Internet routing functions are pathetic at best,
3) Noise/bias/impedence issues when the RTP300 is used (very rare, but it does happen).

Also, not sure if it was done for cost reasons or functional reasons, but the RTP300's originally shipped with 12vDC 1.0A switching-type power supplies. They now ship with old-school iron-core 12vDC 1.2A power supplies. Not sure if the extra 0.2A makes a difference to the operation of these routers or not.

That said, the RTP300 (TI Chipset) adapters still have the best sound quality of the current-series routers (never heard a Motorola or Cisco ATA186 'though) and has the voltage-based call signalling which PBXs and fancier phones like to see. I also have a PAP2 that I play with and it's not bad, doesn't have the DTMF problem, but the sound quality isn't quite as good and the lack of call signalling is somewhat problematic.
