Is there any way to turn on "Anonymous Call Rejection"? I tried turning it on with *77 but just received a busy signal. It sure would be nice to have. Hmmm, then again, Vonage would have to improve it's Caller ID service or switch the Data Base Service that they "dip" into, otherwise I would end up missing half of my calls. |

Vonage does not have that feature and there is no sign that it is coming soon. |

That's why I signed up with Packet8. Packet8 has anonymous call rejection and other features SBC has.
Vonage has been slow in adding its features, and losing market to Packet8 that it doesn't even know. If it were Microsoft, it would have been trying to keep every customer.

I keep hearing that Vonage is going to be coming out with new features, hopefuly that will be one of them. |

I e-mailed Vonage not too long ago asking about Anonymous Call Rejection service. I mentioned about 4 other Voip providers that offer it (and also have a lower monthly price), and told them that ACR was the one feature that I REALLY missed from my BellSouth service. They gave me a sort of generic response, mentioned how they didn't charge extra for a lot of things that other Voip providers charge extra for (one specific thing they mentioned was 911 service...I didn't know anyone charged extra for that??), and said that they were always looking at new services/features to possibly add. They made no mention as to whether ACR was something they were looking at or if it might be added at any time in the future. |

I don't think for regular 911, but some charge for E911. |

To be honest, if I'm in need of 911 service, paying 33 cents is the last of my worries! How often does one (assuming you don't abuse it) dial 911? |

I have been fortunate - I never had to call 911. I know that some Voip providers charge a monthly fee for 911 service. It is only something like $1.50 extra per month though. Packet8 for instance charges $1.50 per month for e911, and there is also a $9.95 activation fee. This price is small. In any case it does not matter to me because I live in Canada, and Vonage has been saying 911 will be available in Canada, but we still do not have it at all. My friend tells me if you call 911 on the Vonage line, a recorded voice says, "STOP - YOU MUST DIAL 911 FROM ANOTHER TELEPHONE. 911 IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THIS TELEPHONE LINE. NO EMERGENCY PERSONNEL WILL BE DISPATCHED." In Canada, unless you have a cell phone in your house, I would strongly recommend not going with this sort of a phone system. I do have the local 7-digit numbers of the police, fire and ambulance taped on my phone. Those are not really considered emergency numbers, but they do answer them. |
