I have been using Vonage with Cox in Fairfax County VA since Dec 23 and I have been very happy with the call quality. I have been able to have clear calls (incoming and outgoing) even when I am using a considerable about of upstream bandwidth for Bittorrent.

I do have to say that I am sure this is because I am getting near the advertised speed. I am on the "Preferred High Speed Internet" package which is advertised as 5Mbps down and 2Mbps up.

I would suggest that you test your real bandwidth using some of the tools around (dslreports) and also make a Voip test call as suggested here to see how your internet connection is.

Same here. I'm in No VA and have been running Vonage since June 05 with no problems. Cox has been great and I really pity my colleagues at work who have to deal with Comcast.

that response wasn't uptight, and in fact it's the gold standard to find out how one specific person's connection will work with Voip, which is obviously what he was wanting to know. but thanks for telling me how forums work and how to help people. better yet, you read the sticky and when you find out why I posted what I did, you can come back, relax, and not worry about telling me how forums work or what to post. after all, it's a discussion forum, I can tell him the best way to get the best information if I want.

I have Cox here in Oklahoma and it's work great since the day I've got Vonage on it. All the problems I remember having are either my fault or a Vonage system problem.

It was really terse, it was the guy's third post to the forum and the first response to it was that. He just wanted some feedback, he wasn't looking for you to help him out in any way. He wanted to know if there were any issues with Cox itself, not his particular connection, so I don't see how it was at all obvious he was looking for test results from some site that has nothing to do with Vonage. Posting that way is unfriendly, especially to someone with three posts under their belt. Try something like "I don't have any direct experience with Cox, but if you want an idea of how to test out your connection to see how it may work, you might want to check out the information in the sticky, a lot of people find it very useful".

BTW, I think you need to read the sticky before you start telling others to do it. What's the title????

Is he having techinical trouble with Vonage? No, so chill. Notice how everyone else gave him constructive feedback? That's what he was looking for.

Thanks for the defense EzCo. You are right on. I was inquiring about any issues with Cox in relation to Vonage. After reading several issues with Comcast I wanted to make sure there was nothing similar going on with Cox. My apologies reebok if I was not clear.

And thanks to the others. I have had cox for several years and also have had a very good experience with them. My average actual speeds are around 1.5 MPS download, which should be sufficient for Voip. Thanks again!
