Post subject: different area code help
The area code will be different than where I live. How will this affect people calling me? Will they be assessed long distance charges when they call me?

Post subject: check your friend's local calling plan
I had a similar question, and the answer is "It depends."
It depends on your callers local calling plan. If they are permitted to call your new area code within their plan, then no charge to them.
Here in the Bay Area of California we have plans (from the local TelCo) that allow unlimited calling to any area code, or cheaper plans that allow free calls only to those area codes adjacent to your own.
Hope this helps.

Only certain area codes and prefixes are available to
Vonage
. When you sign up, contact customer service to see about their policy of assigning you a new number in your area code when it becomes available.
