I live waaaay out in the stix, we have Direcway internet service (DW7000) and recently chose Vonage as our phone service through Direcway system. From day 1 we have not been able to have a civilized conversation with anyone. It ALWAYS cuts our voices in and our while we can hear our family and friends just fine. Sometimes when we pick up the phone we have no dial tone at all. We have contacted (via chat support) both Vonage and Direcway, both say it's not them call the other. We are being passed around to everyone who doesn't have an answer. It's become a vicious, never ending cycle. We have the Direcway DW7000 router, Linsky's RTP300, and Uniden (model?) cordless phone. I had read in another post something about the phone operating on 2.4 GHz and my phone says that on it. Is this my problem?

The general thought here is that Direcway, or any other satellite provider, induces too much delay for reliable Vonage communications. I'm sorry, but I don't know of a workaround, but I would check this forum and the ones over at Broadband Reports, just search them, and see what people are saying. The 2.4 GHZ only causes a problem with wireless internet, so if wireless is not being run near you, it's not a problem. |
