Hi all. New to the forum, but not to Vonage or broadband. I am having some problems and was hoping to tap into some of the vast knowledge in this forum. These problems are in no way related to Vonage hence the post in the cafe.

I'm having slow download speed when wirelessly connected to my router. I'm using:

ISP: Comcast 8Mb
Modem: Motorola SB 5120
Wireless router: Netgear WGT624v2. (latest firmware)
Wireless adapter: Netgear WG311T 108Mbps

When connected directly to the modem I have download speeds at or very near 8Mb. Uploads over 700Kbps.

When wirelessly connected to the router I have download speeds below 3Mb. Uploads remain near 700Kbps.

When connected to the router via Ethernet I have download speeds between 3 and 4 Mb. Uploads remain near 700Kbps.

Range is not an issue, as the speeds are the same right next to the router, or upstairs some 50 feet from the router.

As a side note my Vonage ATA Motorola and Linksis RTP 300 are both connected via Ethernet to the Netgear router. I rarely have issues with sound quality on either Vonage line, even with both lines in use and 3 PC running on the internet.

Any suggestions as to what might be slowing down the Router? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue when I connected Vonage for a friend and now facing the same thing there is a USB connection to the modem from comcast go to the store and buy and USB to RJ45, (ethernet) cord and hook this up and configure your Voip router this should take care of the issue with the slow speeds this cord can be bought in any eletronic store..
