Hello everyone,

I am really thinking about signing up with Vonage my question that I have a powerbook G4 and I also want to order Airport extreme or Airport express, which would be more suitable to use with Vonage?

I use Airport Express and I have Vonage. I can tell you that I have had no problems with Vonage or AE interferring with each other, if that's what you are wondering. I am not familiar with Airport Extreme.

I use Airport Express to move my music from my computer to my receiver in the living room.

I am using the Airport Extreme plugged directly into the Linksys RT31P2 or whatever the old Linksys Vonage Router number is. My PowerMac G4 is also plugged directly into the Vonage Router, as is my Samsung network printer. My Airport Express is extending my network downstairs to my stereo (so I can stream iTunes). I have had no problems with any of these, though the Linksys Router is continuously disconnecting from the Cable Modem. I believe it is the fault of the Router, and not any of the connected items. I would get the Extreme if you can, and maybe the Express if you have a laptop and want an extremely portable wireless-G network to carry around (I bring it to my mom's house and connect it to her cable modem in the basement so I can have wireless while I'm there. I also bring it to school because it's easier than connecting to their wired network!)

We have an AirPort Extreme connected to our internet connection (a SmartBridge wireless connection). Our two iMacs connect via their AirPort cards. We have two AirPort Expresses, one to stream iTunes to the stereo and the other to provide an internet connection to the RT31P2. Vonage service is as good as it can be. I haven't tried it while downloading, though... may be worth a try just to see what happens. I've seen downloads take up the entire 5Mb bandwidth of our connection, so I'd guess that the Vonage service may degrade during that sort of activity. I don't think that the base station has any sort of QoS settings to give priority to Voip.

What does your set-up look like?

I have an airport express and i picked up the Wi-Fi phone and it works, but I think I want a "traditional" phone adapter so that i can take advantage of some mac software... curious what other users set-ups look like using aiport Express

My setup is pretty simple: I have an AirPort Extreme base station connected to the internet, two G5 iMacs connected wirelessly and two AirPort Expresses. One AirPort Express is connected to the stereo for iTunes purposes, the other has a RT31P2 connected to the Ethernet port. Connected to that is the Uniden TRU8860 base station. It works very well, except that the RT31P2 tends to shut down when it gets hot, which happens fairly often. I should probably try to get Vonage to replace it, but after reading about the trouble many people here have gone through attempting such a feat, I'd rather just keep a small fan on it.
