I have a few people tell me that when they call my house, they get a busy signal. I have never been able to replicate this issue, as every time I call my house from my cell phone, everything checks out fine. I've cycle powered my system a few times and still have this issue. Oddly, it only seems to happen to a few particular people that try to call me. Anyone ever have this issue before? Have checked around on here but have only seen people advise power cycles.
I've tested my Voip a few times and my MOS typically runs in the 3.4-3.6 range with relatively high packet discards on the uplink. Have always been in this range, so I don't know why this would directly affect some callers getting a busy signal.
Test results (Me to Boston): MOS 3.2 / 5.0 (Best with G.711 is 4.4) Degradation Sources Codec 0.58 32.3% Latency 0.00 0.0% Packet Discards 1.20 67.7% Packet Loss 0.00 0.0% Codec G.711 (PCM at 64kbps, 20ms RTP payload, 80kbps IP BW) Round-Trip Latency 169 ms Packet Discards 3.2% Packet Loss 0.0% Loss Periods Min: 20 ms Avg: 20 ms Max: 40 ms Random Loss Jitter Min: 0 ms Avg: 11 ms Max: 62 ms Signaling Quality Post-Dial Delay 109 ms Call Setup Time 125 ms Media Delay 281 m |

I had to spend a night at a hospital about 14 miles from my house last week. When I tried to dial out and call home I was interrupted with a busy signal before I completed dialing. After two tries I decided to dial the area code (no 1) and the call went through fine.
Now my local number is actually closer to this hospital then my home is, so I'm not sure why I had to dial the area code. It could just have to do with the local phone system. |

I'd report this both to Vonage customer service and to the carrier for the people who are unable to call you. By the way, is there any correlation among the people unable to call you? All cell phone users with the same carrier, for example? |

Two possibilities....it's either the local switch or the hospital's pbx switch being incorrectly programmed |

Or perhaps you have to use 10-digit dialling in that area code now. (Vonage has never required it, but land lines in many area codes do.) |
