My Vonage phone will not call a particular local phone number. If I call the number from a POTS line in my home, or a cell phone, it's fine. I've reported this to Vonage twice starting about a week and a half ago, and they have not gotten back to me. I'm sure reporting it again will get a third non-reply.

Anyone have any idea what this could be? Every other number dialed so far has been fine. I do not have CID blocked.

Does the local number go to a residence, business, or cell phone?

The number I am trying to call is a business number. The message I get when trying to call it is: "The number you have dialed is not in service. Please check the number and try again." "i100"

How did you notify Vonage? If it was Email, I'd try a phone call to customer service. They're not good with Email. I'd also try calling the service in use by the business that you're trying to call. You might enlist the help of the owners of that business as well.

If you're dialling the number with 7 digits, try 10 (e.g. 526-1111 doesn't work, try 306-526-1111). Sometimes new exchanges don't work on Voip lines for a few days or weeks unless you dial the area code.

I contacted Vonage by Phone each time. I also have dialed the number every way possible, and get the same problem. The business has been there for about a year, the AC has been around for nearly 10 years, and it's the same AC as mine. I could contact the business regarding the number and see who the carrier is, but I'd think informing Vonage of a bad number would elicit a fairly quick response. I am paying for the business service of $50-/month and I don't even get an automated email with a status.

It might be how the business has their phone #'s set up with their phone company. Some businesses get "local" numbers in different areas and have them forwarded back to their main office in a different area. The phone co's charge them per-minute on these calls, so many times they'll block non-local calls to those numbers. Vonage's outbound calls often show up as if they were coming from New Jersey, thus, these phone numbers might be seeing that and reject it.

It doesn't seem like this is a forwarded number. The exchange is a local one to the same CO as my exchange. The business is a single location Chiropractor's office. What I did do is call 2 other numbers with the same exchange (dial-up ISPs) and the calls went through, so it seems to be isolated to that number, not the exchange.

OK, it seems I've gotten somewhere with Vonage on the 3rd try. Come to find out the businees I am trying to call is a Vonage customer as well. You'd think this would be a no-brainer, but apparently the business has his system connected so that no Vonage subscriber can contact him. Tech help tells me he is using his "home wiring", which I don't understand (so much for tech. support from India). Even Vonage cannot call that number from their lines. I emailed the guy and told him to cotact Vonage as he has effectively locked out all Vonage subscribers from calling him. If anyone can shed some light, or understands what this means, I'd love to have it explained to me.

Something tells me that was a line of BS you got because it simply doesn't make any sense. I don't believe that Vonage customers have the ability to block other Vonage customers to begin with. Even more suspect is the "home wiring" part which makes even less sense than the blocking.
