Installed VTech Start-Up Kit with two wireless handsets. Only one handset gets a dial tone. Rebooted system but still the same. I need some help. |

without reading the manual since I'm sure you've done that, I believe multiple handsets all have to be registered with the main base. |

Read the manuals (2) but couldn't find anything about how to register the hand sets. Nothing under troubleshooting either. |

You should not have to do a manual registration for either of the two handsets that came with your system. Page 7 of the user guide only refers to additional handsets that are purchased.
I recommend pulling the battery out of the handset that is not getting a dial tone. Wait 5 or 10 minutes, then put the battery back in. See if that helps.
I have the VTech 8100-2 and have not experienced any problems. |

As it turns out handset 1 had a faulty earpiece and was replaced by Circuit City. The new handset showed SEARCHING... and nothing else regardless what key I pressed. Vonage support could not help and elevated the case. While I was waiting I pressed all kinds of keys at the same time and suddenly it asked for the base station ID. After entering the ID the handset installed as handset 3. The Vonage technician could not help to change it back to handset 1 and referred me to VTech support. |

I had the same registration issue. I got the 8100 with 4 phones - the max - and one phone turned bad after it was registered to the base station. Replacement phone(s) - I tried three - would not register. After a couple long sessions with Vonage (VTech won't support the 8100 series) the Vonage tech called VTech support and asked them to speak with me on conference call - they refused, but told the Vonage tech to unplug the base station WHILE HOLDING THE PAGE BUTTON, wait a few secs and plug it back in. This clears all registration entries from the base station so you'll have to reregister all phones, but it works. Vonage support was very helpful, but man, what a go round! |

Dude.. Thanks for posting this. I've been following up with both Vonage and Vtech for the last couple of days trying to get my handsets registered and they kept passing the buck back and forth. Vonage told me to call Vtech and Vtech told me to call Vonage.
Finally saw your entry and tried it out and it worked. Thanks for posting your solution online.
Everyone.. I tried this out and it works. |

I'm really not trying to hijack this thread, I just thought we might have something in common.
I can't get the press and hold the #1 key to work with calling Vonage Voicemail. I asked V Tech and they said check with "another office" - I guess they meant Vonage, but they wouldn't say so in their email.
Anyway, the *123 keys work for Vonage email, but not the V Tech instructions of "press 1 and hold" - can anyone confirm any luck with this? |

I tried the voice mail button 8-10 times until I realized it only works if the handset is off. |
