Post subject: Just moved, now I have dialtone, but can't place calls
I have just moved and established new Comcast service at my new home. I have been a
Vonage
customer for months now and am using the Cisco ATA-186. When I got my Comcast internet service working this morning at the new house my
Vonage
lines are not working. The phone will ring when people call but I can't hear anyone on the line. If I place a call I get dialtone but the call never goes through. Any ideas?

We feel your pain but unfortunately you're not providing enough information to offer much guideance.
The assumption, of course, is that your cable modem is working and you have access to the internet. But ...
1. How is your ATA connected into your network?
2. Is Comcast setting you up for a static or dynamic IP address?
3. Do you have any firewall stuff connected?
4. Did you move within the same Comcast network (not another city)?
Sounds llike your signaling path is working (port 5060/5061) but somewhere along the line the voice path (port range 10500+) is not being passed thru

Post subject: It's not me it's them...
I called
Vonage
, they told me that they had some bad server that was causing the problem. They moved me to a new server and all is great now. Thanks for the help, sorry for the lack of info being provided. I have had very little problems with my
Vonage
and use it for my work line as well. I like it, but man when it does not work you feel like you lost your best friend. Thanks again and enjoy!
