I've searched and seen similar posts, but not the identical. So, here goes. I've been a subscriber for 4 or 5 months now. I don't use the phone much, but this has pretty much been happening since the beginning, and I'm finally doing something about it. At LEAST half the time, on inbound calls, my phone will ring, ring, ring, until we answer it. We'll answer and get just dead air. The phone's timer ticks away like we're on a call. Apparently, the caller goes to vmail. I've simplified my situation as much as possible, but the problem remains. Below are my specifics, with it at its current simplified state.

1. NJ

6. Modem->Adapter->PC

Outbound calls do not appear to be a problem. I am not using house wiring (I was - but suspected that could be a problem, so I went direct to the adapter). I do not own a corded phone, but can't see why that would possibly be the issue here as it worked just fine on LEC lines.

How long is your voice mail timer set to? Are you using any Call Forwarding/ Simulring options?

Voicemail timer is set to 30 seconds, and no, I am using no other options or simulring. This happens on the first ring, second ring, etc. Doesn't matter. It certainly isn't 30 seconds.

I had the same problem for a while. A reboot of my Vonage router fixed it for me...If anyone else has a solution, I'd be anxious to hear it.

Assuming that the phone works all right for outgoing, and also for the few incoming that actually connect, then I'd guess that if a re-boot doesn't fix it then it will have to be a customer service issue. I don't see any clues in the setup or Voip test data.
