tweber is correct, you would put it between the ONT and the router.
However, I don't know how much it would buy you. First, you have to figure out what the problem is.
If you unplug everything else from your network, and just hook the
Vonage
unit to the router (or better yet directly to the ONT), do you get good voice quality?
Do you use any network-heavy applications like BitTorrent?
And, as a side note, have you tried turning off the firewall on te D-LINK (assuming the D-LINK has a separate, configurable SPI firewall that can be turned off)?

Thank you NateHoy and tweber for your posts.
I can try turning off everything I have connected, the PC and the Mac. And just leave the phone adaptor connected and try making calls to Brazil. Trouble is; the problems associated with calling Brazil are intermittent. Sometimes its fine, sometimes its not.
I have used bit torrent but have them off most of the time. I hardly have them on so I don't think it iwould be the cause of the problems I have.
As for turning off the firewall on the D-LINK, no I have not tried turning it off. I guess I can give it a try to see if situation improves.
However doing this is a security risk, so I'm not sure if it would be a solution neither but for troubleshooting purposes, I guess its worth a try.
Wife has had it with the problems (in calling Brazil), she wants to go back to (POTS) land line and pay for quality service. I'm running out of time so tonight I may run to CompUSA and give this Broadband Booster a try. If it doesn't work, I can always return it.

Sorry one more question.
You guys said I can hook this Broadband Booster between the ONT and router.
The router is supposed to authenticate PPOE for Verizon FIOS broadband service.
So this Broadband Booster doesn't care if you're authenticated or not, it will improve packets, regardless ? Please advise. thanks again.

oz_80,
don't worry about authentication, my VZ Fios installer typed in username=mickeymouse
password=123456
just type something in there and you are ok to connect.

Post subject: Doesn't work
Well, I went and bought this Broadband Booster from CompUSA earlier this evening. Just tried hooking it up. With Broadband Booster between the ONT and router, it doesn't work. I wouldn't get a WAN IPaddress. Oh well, too bad.
So I put the booster between, router and the
Vonage
phone adaptor (RT31P2). I guess, tomorrow, I'll ask my wife to make some calls to Brazil and see if voice quality is improved. If it does, it may be good enough for me.

Could this work if I have two seperate
Voip
adapters connected to one router? I'm guessing they would be using the same ports and create a conflict.

I could be wrong, but I don't think this will help. The booster is now between your router and the
Vonage
device which means the only traffic that it will prioritize will be the
Vonage
traffic. This device needs to be where all the traffic goes through in order for it to work.
It can't hurt to try, but I don't think this will help your situation out.

Yes this can work if you have two separate
Voip
adapters connected to one router.
You would still want the booster between your Cable/DSL Modem and your router. This will then priortize traffic between all of your connections on the router, including the
Voip
adapters.
The booster isn't performing port forwarding or anything like this so there isn't an issue with port conflicts.

In order to make my Hawking work I did have to set it up for a static IP. You'll need to know the local IP of your router and the IP of the hawking booster. You then log into the the Hawking device and put your router's IP in as the static IP.
It should then work (where it belongs, in between your ONT and the router.
