when should i transfer number

i just signed up and now waiting for my package to arrive. when should i fill the form to transfer. should i wait till i recieve the package or do it now?

the longer you wait to fill out the Letter of Agency, the longer the transfer will take. Also, the Letter of Agency will expire if it is left too long without filling it out, about a month.

So, basically, if you want to transfer your number, go ahead and fill out the letter now. If you want to try the services first, you can wait to receive the equipment and try it, but keep in mind if you wait too long you will have to start the number transfer over again.

I defintely would not start the number transfer process until you verify the service works as you want it to. Most people have no problems at all, but it you do - you don't want to be stuck in number port limbo without phone service while you try to rectify it.

I believe you have at least 30 days from the time you tell them you plan to port before you have to complete the LOA. Use that time to verify the service works as you want it to. If it does, complete the LOA and they'll kick off the port process. If the service doesn't work out for you, you can just cancel and not worry about trying to move your number from Vonage to someone else or back to your original provider.

I know for myself, I waited 2 weeks before finalizing the LOA. That gave me enought time to get comfortable that I could make and receive calls adequately with Vonage. Once I submitted the LOA, they immediately sent it to my existing carrier, and the port was complete in about 2 weeks.
