Hello, I've had Vonage for a few weeks, ported my old number, and my landline service is supposed to go off sometime today. Hooray! However, when I originally set up my VT1005v, I accessed the setup page using the IP listed in the manual, 192.168.102.1. I recall experiencing timeouts before it finally came up, but I eventually got it and allowed it to get an IP address on my LAN via DHCP. I have a new Comcast cable modem (Motorola SB5120), and my router is a Linksys WRT54G v4 running DD-WRTv23 third-party firmware. A gigabit switch is plugged into the router, and my VT1005v is plugged into that. Even though I'm not getting QoS Voip priority, call quality has been excellent. My problem is that my DHCP server is acting up and has been giving out the IP address of my VT1005v to other devices, causing the VT to go offline. I've even tried reserving the IP address for the VT's ethernet MAC address, but even this periodically fails causing a loss of dial tone.
Anyway, I thought the best thing to do was to reconfigure the VT so it uses a static IP. But I can no longer access the setup page via 192.168.102.1. I've tried accessing it over my LAN and via a PC connected directly to the PC port. But 192.168.102.1 continually times out. Strange, considering I can access the setup page for my Mot SB5120 (at 192.168.100.1) just fine. (My LAN is 192.168.1.x, BTW). According to the manual, I won't be able to access the setup page while the VT is running its boot routine. I've tried accessing the setup page while it's got an IP (via DHCP) and is producing a dialtone, and I've tried unplugging everything on the VT, leaving it for a few mins and the connecting it via its PC port to a laptop. 192.168.102.1 still times out.
I could solve the problem by assigning all devices on my LAN a static IP, but I should be able to get into the VT's setup page and correct the situation properly. Other than my inability to access VT's setup page, it's working fine. Has anyone experienced this problem, and have you found a solution?
TIA... |

I'd turned off the DHCP server on the VT, so I had to manually assign my laptop an IP address in the 192.168.102.x range. Then I was able to pull up the setup page and configure the VT with a static IP. All is well, and my dial tone is back. |
