Fellow members, please excuse the tirade I'm about to embark on. I have become somewhat annoyed at the number of, what I call, "dump and run" posts about Vonage service, customer service, etc. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind people relating their experiences. Not at all. And even I know that lots of experiences are negative. But please, I hate to see this turn into a Vonage dumping ground, rather than what it was intended, a helpful resource to those in need. And to our newest members, you know, the ones who sign up just to trash Vonage one time and never ask for help or post again, please ask us. That's why we gather here, to help each other. There are very few problems that someone hasn't seen here. So just ask. Thanks for listening to my rant.

Something I wanted to add: I'm not trying to single anyone out. It just seems to be a developing trend. Stop making more work for the Moderator.

Think I hope I dont sound like a Vonage slammer on here.

I know I can post some angry stuff at times, but also I do ask for help or a question on something I do not know about and always get an answer.

Also I post when im having an issue just to keep whomever informed on how its attempted to be resolved.

I'd be curious to see the originating IPs from many of those posts... I actually have seen false posts on other forums and ratings websites (not Voip related) from competing co employees in order to drive people to their service. I don't doubt that there are some legitimate posts in there...BUT, the timing of them seems suspect to me. Rarely saw posts like this and then in the past few months they've exploded. I know Vonage's customer base is increasing, BUT not proportionately to what I'm seeing posted.

I call them (in the rules) "bash-n-dash", but "dump-n-run" is ok also, lol.

Truth is, I see all IP addresses by default as being logged in as admin.

In the early years, the bash-n-dash post were almost always made by: "corp.some-other-voip-company.com".

However, that has changed. Now, most all B-N-D and most all spam (which you never see as I clear most out within 30 minutes) is made by China and Russia IP addresses.

So, not being a big fan of Vodka and Rice, I tend to block the whole C Block of the offending IP.

I.E.: 123.123.BLOCK.BLOCK

Smile

Embarassed
OK...OK....Mea Culpa.

I did slam Vonage this week on this forum. I should have read further and thought more about it. I had just finished an interview over the phone with a California politician for my radio broadcast news and had a lot of problems with the soundbite. I just became extremely irritated and wanted to slam something/someone. So...please accept my humble apology.

I did just post a technical issue a few minutes ago, but I think I know the answer after reading a few articles. I have had Clearwire as my ISP for the past five days and methinks that may be a problem.

I am a bona fide, in-the-flesh, fresh to Voip, new Vonage customer.

I've already run into hardware issues with my brand-spanking-new, direct-from-Vonage, Linksys WRTP54TG. Now it may not be Vonage's fault that my router is bad, but it is a product I received directly from them and they should be able to help me resolve my issue or get me a new router.

After spending several hours on the phone with their "Customer Care" folks in India without resolution of my issue, I wound up quite frustrated. When three service specialists went through the same exact, troubleshooting script even though I tried to explain I had already spoken to someone and gone through the diagnostic process, I came to the conclusion that Vonage has some issues to work out in the CRM area.

Here is a link to another post where I relate my woes:

http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic10839.html

Are you surprised that my experience has elicited some Vonage bashing? If so, you must be a far more patient person than I. Given my experience I think it inevitable that I would express some displeasure with Vonage (and Linksys-Cisco for that matter.)

However, as you may see in my post tn topic 10839, I did ask for help and gained some very useful information from other forum members. I am grateful to them and to this forum for that. Hoo-rah to the Vonage forums!

I think, by nature, forums will always be a place where people will express their opinions, the anonymity of cyberspace giving them a place to shout their anger or even to express their love of whatever subject they happen to be discussing. In my particular situation, being able to vent a bit actually made me feel better and cleared the haze of anger that had been surrounding me following my Tech Support experience.

I am not condoning Vonage bashing but I would like to say that a certain amount of it is inevitable. If by posting in this forum a person can get out their anger perhaps it will help them to step back to reassess the situation. So it was for me.

The only bashing that I would say should not be allowed in these forums is direct attacks against members of the forum but I'm sure that goes without saying.

So, for the record, I believe a certain amount of Vonage bashing in these forums can actually result in happy forum members.

I will be sure to update you on how my personal situation shapes up. In the meantime, thank you for the opportunity for allowing me to express my opinions.

If your having a problem with Vonage and your not getting help there is nothing wrong with expressing your frustration. What gets under my skin are people who just start bashing it before they really have asked for help or in one case recently we had someone who was bashing Vonage and he never even received his equipment.

I would like to see Vonage grow and succeed and overcome it's problems, which it undeniably has for some people. I can say this - if I had discovered this forum before I bought Vonage I probably wouldn't of because it is just so negative in here. And that would have been a mistake because for me it's worked quite well.
