After 7 months of various problems, hours on hold with customer service, and finally 3 weeks with no phone service-I was successful in porting my number from Vonage to Comcast Digital Voice yesterday.
My final call to Vonage Account Management was the best experience I had as a customer! Very short wait, spoke to someone who spoke English well, and received email confirmation of my cancellation immediately.
If Vonage had had people like this on the Tech Support lines, they may have saved me as a customer....it just was not worth my time and frustration (usually on a cell phone) when issues came up.
Comcast install was fast and clean. They installed an Aris Model 4 modem where the bell & CATV lines enter the house-I just had to install an AC power outlet today to feed the modem. They claim 20hr battery backup on the modem..
No issues porting number away from Vonage. Anyone have ideas on what to do with a used RTP300? |

Still an adequate, if minimal, network router. Also a decent switch. And das blue blinkenlights make it run cooler and faster of course.
If you want to donate it to a good cause, I'll take it. I've been wanting to get one to play with unlocking it, but I don't want to mess with my Vonage-issued WRTP54G. |

If you didn't buy then ship it back in the box it came with. Otherwise you'll get a nice bill of about $50 on your credit card for it.
Otherwise.....it might come in handy. I don't find it that fast myself. I've been frustrated too often with Vonage too so I'd consider using it as a clay pigeon. |

So it's clear to...
How much are you paying for the service and what comes with the package price.
Also, the digital service is not the same as the VoIP they plan to roll out in the near future. Referring to Comcast. I talked with a tech who came to my home not too long ago about their new VoIP and he's a beta tester and said it worked great. But then, it is their network. |

I thought this was a Vonage forum? Not quite the appropriate place to advertise for other companies. |

I see that NateHoy has answered your question and on that note, I see no useful reason to leave this thread open. |
