Hi All,

I have been a Vonage customer for 2 months now. The main features always work perfect on my vonage phone service although I am having some strange problems. I use calling cards for intl. dialing to Australia etc. I stored the calling card access number and PIN in my phone speed dial memory locations. The speed dial works for access number but not the PIN number and foreign country phone number. If I press the PIN one number at a time it recognizes the PIN but when I press the speed dial button for PIN, it doesn't recognize my PIN. This holds same for foreign country phone number. Also the calling card has the capability for pinless dialing although the calling card system says I cannot use this feature from this vonage phone. FYI, caller ID with name is enabled on my vonage phone.

Does anybody having this problem on their vonage phones? Please help. Vonage CS wasn't helpful much for this problem.

This mostly is caused by the speed inwhich your speed dial is dialing the #'s. Vonage tones for # dialing are very touchy. You'll probably have to dial manually.

Hello 2767,

I beg your pardon, what do you mean by "Vonage tones for # dialing are very touchy"? Also, if the phone dials with the same speed for calling card access #, PIN, destination number. Vonage dials the access # without any problem, only when I dial the PIN, destination number from the speed dial then the problem arises.

Can I change the delay in PAP2 TA to accomodate the speed dial on my phone to recognize the PIN and the destination number. I will appriciate your reply. Thanks

When you "dial a number" with Vonage, its not sending DTMF codes over the network, its sending packets to the Vonage server that basically say "please connect me with xxx-xxx-xxxx." When you're dialing the PIN and destination number, you ARE having to send DTMF codes, to the equipment at the access number you've dialed. That's the difference.

No, you cannot. If the phone speed dials too fast, there's nothing you can do except dial manually, as Taylor said.

Have you considered just dialing the Australian numbers directly using Vonage, rather than the access card? Looking at Vonage's rates, most calls to Australia are $.05/minute. Is your access card cheaper than that?

Thanks DallasFlier! for your response. I guess I have to use to dial manually now. Regarding the rates for Australia! much cheaper without any fees if I use access card. To be precise 2.3cents. It makes big difference if one talks alot.
