Are there any know issues with using an automated system that listens for touch tones to route you? My wife tried to use one this morning and the system was getting 2 of every digit she pressed. Using an RPT300. |

The device interprets your keypresses and tries to retransmit them pure. You might need to call tech support as you cannot change the DTMF Relay settings on your device. Ask for tier 2. India is useless. |

Some of the RTP300 devices don't properly process DTMF tones which interferes with the relay portion. Basically, they don't mute the local touch tones, so the IVR system ends up hearing multiple presses at times and sometimes it doesn't work. Call up tech support and get after them about it. |

I don't know if this helps, but I do have problems like this from time to time as well. It is interesting to note that I dial a number of these systems frequently (conference call #, work vouice mail) and I the problem for me is always with the same systems.
I have noticed two things in the past that seem to minimize this issue without getting support involved.
1. Don't have your phone on speakerphone when using the IVR system.
2. Dial slowly and leave the numbers depressed for longer than you normally would.
I don't have any science to back up why this seems to help, but maybe it will help you out.
Regards,
John |
