Post subject: Virtual Numbers and voicemail
Ok, here is a basic question. I'm curious if the Virtual number feature can ring stright to voicemail? Right now, I'm paying an extra $10 a month for a softphone, which I loved when I was using it, but I don't need it anymore. I keep it because it gives me an extra number that rings right to voicemail (since I have converted the pda into something else for now).
So is this possible?

To my knowledge, the virtual number is just an "extension number" of your

telephone. Whatever your main number does, the virtual number does. (In short, if your main number rings your telephone, so will your virtual number.)

Virtual Phone Number
How does voicemail work with a Virtual Phone Number?
If you have a virtual number pointed to one telephone number, all features turned on for your telephone number will also work for your virtual number. Voicemail will pick up for any number that rings to your virtual number that you have selected.

Ok, thats still confusing.
"Voicemail will pick up for any number that rings to your virtual number that you have selected."
Can I set the virtual number to ring only to voicemail? Then have my regular number number set to ring my phone then goto voicemail like it is already doing? I don't want to answer calls that come in on the virtual number, I just need a voicemail box for them to goto.
If this is not possible, I suppose I could hunt down a 3rd party provider for something that seems basic. Anyone have any thoughts on K7?

To answer you question.Yes, if you have your virtual# forwarded to you main# and your VM is enabled then it will goto VM if the call goes unanswered or if you are on the phone.

I think the question is, can his virtual number go to VM and his main number ring his telephone. If this is the actual question, the answer is no.
The virtual number does the same as your regular number. The virtual number will ring where the system is set. In short, the virtual number is just another way of ringing your regular

number.

YES, you CAN have your Virtual number go to voicemail before your main number does, BUT, the shortest time is 5 secs, so you phone will still ring once or twice before going to VM..
voicemail is the only setting that a virtual number can have differently than a main line, but still the shortest time delay is 5 secs..
not the exact answer you want, but it's a for-sure answer..
go to 'Features', 'Manage Virtual Numbers' click 'View' (next to yor virtual number) then click 'Edit' and the voicemail settings are there..
