Post subject: Garbled First 15 Second of Calls, Resetting VT1005v, & M
Hey Guys,
I've tried to find my answer using the search function and haven't found my exact answer. I have the Motorola VT1005V. For the last two months I've been having problems with the callers to and from my
Vonage
line hearing me for the first 15 seconds or so. If you can get over the initial... wait a second... can you hear mel... helloo.... HELLLO.... etc. The line eventually clears up. I was living in a apartment and thought that it might have been a bandwidth issue. Well I just moved into a new house, where my neighbor and I are the only ones sharing a main cable connection and I'm still having the same problem. My
Voip
test etc... gave a 4 out of 5. I get about 1700kbs speeds on testing.
I've tried everything. Including making sure my coredless phone is more then 10feet away, my wireless router is more than 10feet away etc. Yet still no luck. I called the
Vonage
yesterday and the guy basically told me to change my phone from pulse to tone. I tried a test call while on the phone with him and the call worked great. The next call I tried after getting off the phone with him was back to square one.
I then tried going into the routers settings using some of the info from the other threads about changing the IP address etc. and that only resulted in the VT1005 not being able to connect to
Vonage
at all. I rest those settings back to find the IP on its own etc. and tried reseting the MAC address etc. and know I still can't even get the VT1005 to connect to
Vonage
at all. Should the MAC address be filled out from the MTA MAC ID: from the back of the router. Any help or direction that could be given would be appreciated. The tech support guys from India, haven't been much help, but I'll try them again tonight if I can't get any suggestions.
Thanks for all your help.

you had your phone set to pulse? wow...
I'm not sure why you thought messing with the ip and such was a good idea, but as you can see it wasn't, and it won't make a difference anyway. I don't think anything should be in the mac address field. I would imagine that's for mac cloning, so try leaving it blank. if you can find a factory reset, use it, but I'm not sure if the mta's have that.
posting the information from the very top post that says "what to post when having problems with
Vonage
" would have been stupendous also.

Getchellad, you made reference to a cordless phone and a wireless router. Is the cordless a 2.4 GHz? If so, interference with the router could be the cause of your original problem.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to get you back to where you started, unless, as Reebok suggested, the adapter has a reset function.

You said for the last two months. Did it work right before that? Or is that when you got it?

Sorry About that guys. I missed this.... here it is. Yes I've had
Vonage
with the same setup for about a year. And the quality has only dropped about 2-3 months ago.
1. Charlotte, NC
2. Time Warner (Road Runner) Cable (cable, DSL, wireless etc)
3. I'm not sure how to tell upload and download speeds, but CNET's internet speed tester shows that I range from 1000kb-1400kb.
4. Toshiba Cable Modem. DAZ8821F
5. Motorola VT1005
6. Modem,
Vonage
, Microsoft MN500 Wireless Router. Phone runs from
Vonage
to Fax Machine, and then to a 2.4ghz cordless phone.
7. Choppy audio for the first 15 seconds or so. Most of the choppyness is on the other end.
8. (Disclamer... this test was done on my laptop through the wireless router.)

Alright guys. Sorry about that. I finally figured it out. It was my damn 2.4ghz cordless phone. I had even put it on a long cord away from the
Vonage
, but it still gave me problems. I'm looking into buying a new cordless phone base, do the 5ghz phones have problems two?

The 5.8's work well and there is no interference.
