Post subject: Fax issues.
My fax machine does have auto-fallback. The problem is I need to know how to turn off "Error Correction" I have a Brother IntelliFax 1800C.
Is anyone using a Brother fax machine? I've been through the manual and the settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Brother MFC-4800, and I was guessing that MFC stoof for "Mother....", I digress. I can receive faxes, but not send them out.
I called
Vonage
Tech Support, and they thought that the machine was dialing out, or attempting to connect too fast. I read the manual front to back for my machine, and it says that it has autofallback.
I wanted to know if anyone knew a way to setup the fax to only communicate at 9600 BPS? I tried *99 and the fax number, I even tried adding a DSL filter which some people have said worked, but still can't fax out. Very frustrating.

Post subject: Same Issue
I agree this is BS! A heads up would have been nice. I spoke with the tech guys at Brother and they said it is not a question they get at all. They did some research and found that in my case, I hav the Plain Paper IntelliFax 2800, I can cahnge the Baud rate. But it has to be done at a Brother sevice center.
Well I called a couple in my area and it is going to cost me between $60-$100, plus 3-5 days without my fax. THIS ****!!!!!
Anyway if anyone else has an alternative please let me know. I like my fax and do not want a buy a new one.

I have a brother fax as well and have had problems. I was able to fax for a while but now when I try to send or receive faxes, the "fax tone" gets cut off so I can't do anything.
What is wrong with
Vonage
and why can't this be fixed? I mean I was faxing no problem for some time!

My situation exactly. I am affraid that if I spend the money to adjust the baud rate that it still won't work. If that is the case I will be PISSED. And will let my customer base know about my unhappiness with the
Vonage
product.

Post subject: Try this fax "solution"
I recalled that my fax problems started after I lowered my bandwidth to 50 from 90. So I went back and upped it back to the highest voice quality. Guess what? Now I can fax again. Let me know if this works for anyone else.

I did change my setting from 50 to 90. I will try going back to 50 and see if that does anything.

I have the same problem with my Brother MFC-3220c fax machine. I can receive fax, but not send fax. The message is "poor line quality". I have read the manual of the fax machine, but could not find a place to adjust the baud rate. Is that possible we can use an external connector type device to get it fixed? This fax was bought for so cheap, and I will not pay more than $10 to get Brother Support Center to get it done.

I have also been having fax issues. The HP3200 I have was not working, so I got a Brother MFC-3220c as well at Staples, and it too is reporting bad line quality. I have a ticket open with
Vonage
but I am wondering if this is a Brother thing, or just coincidence.
The HP would just die, at least the Brother says "NG: bad line quality".
I will monkey with the settings tonight.
Vonage
suggested I get a DSL filter for the fax, I told them if I need one then they should be supplying it, because their docs say that faxing works fine, even on the voice line, and mine never did so I upgraded to a business account with fax.
