pleae help , need fast help..

i bought this compaq presario 2710us and the laptop wont turn on , i bought a lithium battery but its brand new (maybe not charged yet ?) ... i put it in the laptop and pressed the on button but nothing happen . i have an ac adapter etc. but no battery for the bottom of the laptop where the other attery goes . the tech support said i dont have to have two batteries and the future bay battery i have will do fine . how long should iw ait for the battery to recharge and should this turn on or atleast show light that indicates the battery works or the laptop is working right ? what should i do . i cant send the laptop back since i bought it from a company who said they sell these after there employees upgrade laptops , the condition of the laptop was unknown ;(

Go on ebay and see if you can buy what you need. If not sell it on ebay and ride yourself of the problem. Lol
